Hi everyone! If you’re new here…

I'm Maram, a wife, mother, and former phlebotomy technician who transitioned to working from home as a Certified Pediatric Sleep Consultant.

Here's the story behind my choice to pursue a career in pediatric sleep.

After my daughter's birth, she would fall asleep during feeds every 2-4 hours, which is normal for newborns. However, at one month old, her sleep patterns shifted. I used to let her nap in a well-lit room to differentiate between day and night, but suddenly, she started staying awake for extended periods. (3+ hours at a time) I was lost, stressed out and had no idea what was wrong.

I gave her a pacifier, but she didn't sleep despite liking it. Even when swaddled, she remained awake. I didn't opt for contact naps. Personally, I enjoyed interacting with her while she was awake rather than during contact naps. I thought she hated her bassinet, the swing got her to sleep but was unsafe, and car rides only kept her calm until we stopped at a red light, causing her to cry instantly.

While scrolling through Instagram, I stumbled upon a sleep consultant's post about wake windows. Learning that a newborn staying awake for hours was not typical, I learned that putting her down after 30-45 minutes could help her sleep without being over tired. This sleep consultant completely changed my life with one post. Implementing their advice, I placed my daughter in her bassinet after 40 minutes of being awake, lightly rocked her, and she fell asleep effortlessly.(Putting her down drowsy but awake + following wake windows) Note. Drowsy but awake shouldn’t be used after the newborn stage.

No, it wasn't the formula, gas, or her bassinet that caused the issue; she was simply overtired. Ever since my daughter was 4 months old, she has been sleeping in her crib for a full 12 hours at night consistently. She also takes great, restorative naps in her crib. I gently and holistically taught her to become a great sleeper.

The inspiration from my own journey drives me to support others just as I once received support. Providing one on one, personalized-services, creating blogs, and offering advice to help those in need has now become my mission. I want to share the joy of restful nights with families who are struggling with their baby or toddler’s sleep. Quality sleep is a necessity for everyone, not a luxury, and each family deserves sleep support and guidance. Observing the amazing, life changing effects of great sleep on families is truly fulfilling, recognizing its crucial role in our overall well-being.

I will always be grateful to the sleep consultant who helped me with that instagram post. I will forever be grateful for the incredible and supportive sleep consultant instructor who led me through this journey with steadfast support and guidance.
